The reviews of the Nokia N95 smartphone run the gamut from initial excited "wow's" to descriptions of why "it sucks."
The Nokia N95 is more than a phone and has more capabilities than some computers; a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, FM Radio Tuner, TV-Out option and Bluetooth. However, one reviewer warned that the GPS antenna points to the ground and reported problems in London using the GPS. Some reviewers didn't like the cheap/junkie feel of the device's operational buttons and the high price tag.
The $750 MSRP and a street price around $600 is a hefty price to pay. If you decide to buy the N95 make sure that it is the 3G version and that it is compatible with your carrier.
CNET gave the Nokia N95 (US) 8 out of 10. The hardware feels cheap, the speaker phone was weak and without a carrier to subsidize it, it's too expensive, even with a 5-megapixel camera (which takes great photos), crystal clear screen, integrated GPS, radio, great call quality, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Gizmodo says that the N95 rocks and sucks. It rocks due to great GPS, music capabilities, camera, blog posting and applications. It sucks due to slow data speeds/OS, junky hardware, and high $750 price tag.
Brighthand was WOWed by the N95's computer-like capabilities, Wi-Fi, media readiness, TV-out functionality, FM tuner, noting, " the N95 packs a whole lot into one heck of a nice package."
PCPro says that the N95 is "almost everything a mobile user could wish for, but there are serious problems to note before you buy,' because the GPS antenna points to the floor and the low battery life.
Om Malik at GigaOm gave the US 3G version of the N95 a thumbs up for improved battery life, 3G support multimedia, and maps.
