The massive fires in Southern California have made the name Qualcomm ubiquitous in news stories. The evacuees at Qualcomm Stadium were pleased with the food, amenities and services, shinning a positive light on the San Diego wireless technology innovator.
There were many more mentions of the Qualcomm Stadium than the winners of the Qualcomm 3G A-List Awards. The winner in the Government category was Korean NEMA (National Emergency Management Agency) emergency response that incorporates GPS, LBS, medical videos, photos and data in case of an emergency. The Times Online and many other resources reported that there were free phone calls, massages and acupuncture available at Qualcomm Stadium. Network World stated that “about 30%” of Qualcomm CTIA attendees went home at at least 12 Qualcomm employees lost their homes. Most Qualcomm employees however, do appear to be safe.
