Santa Claus needs a new cell phone this year. What would be the best cell phone or mobile device for Santa? Commentary Feature from Wireless and Mobile News
Aware of the latest mobile phone trends because of letters from very good girls and boys asking for iPhones; Nick of the Silent Holy Night looked at the iPhone, first. He wears gloves while on his sleigh ride, so he ruled out touch phones such as the iPhone HTC Touch and LG Venus.
In case Rudolf’s nose runs out of power, GPS would be nice, therefore he may go for the LG Voyager with voice commands and GPS. He would use the Voyager to tune into a TV shows, check the Web for weather forecasts and text last minute requests to the elves. The white-bearded miracle worker could use a Bluetooth earphone to call Mrs. C without taking his hands off the reindeer reins.
The ride is long and can be boring. Sometimes, Santa likes to rock with some tunes but he wants to sync his iTunes from his iMac which he can’t do with the LG Voyager. He could try to sideload his tunes to a Juke, but it’s kind of small and lacks GPS and a QWERTY keyboard.
Perhaps a smartphone would suit the red-suited wonder. The red Palm
Centro is bright and cheery, but the keyboard is really small and we
know he’s a big guy with big fingers and there is no way way he is not
going to cut down on his carbs.
Often, the jovial gift-giver likes to take photos of the ride, so the Nokia N95 with a 5 megapixel camera and
GPS might do the trick, but it lacks a keyboard for texting and the I.T.
elf informed him that $600 is not in the mobile budget this year. So he
looked at the BlackBerry Curve 8310 with GPS and camera, the keyboard
was bigger than the Palm Centro and it had almost all the features he
wanted except he needed Wi-Fi back at the workshop.
St. Nick
travels all over the globe and needs an international phone, the Moto Q
Global with the ability to access 3G all over the place was under
consideration until Elvis the I.T. elf, nixed it because it lacked
Wi-Fi.
So what should Santa do? Reader and reindeer comments
are welcome. When he stops by our house we’re leaving him extra
cookies and our landline is open. We wrote him a paper letter offering
our services - we will take a message for him and post it by the hot
chocolate. Your comments will be forwarded to the North Pole.
