Toshiba Fuel Cell Cell Phone Demoed at Ceatec

A direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is powering Toshiba cell phone in a demonstration at the Ceatec exhibition
in Chiba, Japan.

The DMFC powers round six hours of talk time while a typical battery in the same handset would provide between 3-4 hours.

DMFCs produce
electricity from a reaction between methanol, water and air. This technology may be commercially available next year.
