When the FCC meets on November 4, it is scheduled to vote on the proposed $28.1 billion Verizon
Wireless-Alltel merger and the Sprint-Clearwire merger.
If the Verizon/Alltel merger is approved, the merged company would become the nation's largest wireless carrier with 80 million customers.
FCC chief, Martin said that he wanted to push
forward on the merger votes to clear up uncertainty over those
deals, because the credit crisis is putting business plans in
various industries in limbo.
