Mobile Internet World concluded its second annual conference at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center last Thursday, exceeding expectations and laying the groundwork for the Mobile Internet World conference series in 2009. In total, thousands of attendees, speakers, exhibitors and media from 50 countries participated in this year's event.
During the morning keynote sessions of the final day of the conference,
thought leaders gave attendees an overview of the current environment
and future opportunities for mobile internet services and applications.
The main conference session floor was packed as Rich Miner of Google,
Shashi Kavi of Ericcson, and Len Lauer of Qualcomm gave their keynote
addresses.
Afterwards, apanel of experts participated on an
Executive Roundtable to address the topic: "Enabling Mobile Internet
Content and Applications." To round out the day, afternoon sessions
zeroed in on four key areas of the mobile universe: Social Networking;
Location Based Services; Mobile Internet Business Models; and a Mobile
Internet World Venture Forum.
"The quality of the attendees and speakers is very high. The
discussions we had with customers were focused, specific, and
relatively advanced. The mobile industry has developed quickly over the
past year and that means customers appreciate our technology even
more," said Ran Farmer, Managing Director of U.S. Operation for
Netbiscuits, reflecting on the conference from an exhibitor
perspective. He added, "We've found the developer discussions to be
particularly useful."
"Yankee Group has built on the strengths of last year's Mobile Internet
World conference series, and we exceeded expectations, even in light of
the current economic climate," said Eliot Weinman, President of the
events and publishing division of Yankee Group, and Founder and
Chairman of Mobile Internet World. "Attendees were able to witness the
sea change happening in the mobile industry as we move towards truly
open networks with exciting new services and applications," he said.
He added, "We were also extremely pleased to have received extensive
press coverage of the event."
