Mobile Email Tops Voicemail, Says Seven

SEVEN, mobile email solutions provider for wireless devices used by
90% of the global marke,.surveyed its customers via its online
community site. 1080 people responded on
October 4th - 8th, showing the email is used more than voicemail on
mobile.

The survey results:

  • On average, voicemail is used for 38% of communications on the device
  • Email is also used for 38% of communications

  • Text messaging in only used 21%

  • IM is only used 5%

For US users, email is the predominant communication channel on the
phone:

  • On average, voicemail is used for 34% of communications

  • Email is also used for 44% of communications

  • Text messaging in only used 21%
  • IM is only used 4%

Mobile email is being used for Personal email even more than Business email- though most use it for both:

  • 42% use SEVEN for both personal and business mail

  • 34% use SEVEN for personal email only

  • 24% use SEVEN for work email only

  • 57% of users who are less than 25 years old, use SEVEN mobile email for personal email only

Use of mobile email is high:

  • 93.5% state that they use SEVEN mobile email everyday (even more US respondents use mobile email everyday: 97%)
  • Only 1.4% state that they use email occasionally (on vacation or during the weekend)

  • The remaining 5% use SEVEN mobile email a couple of times per week

The lines between personal and business lives are blurring for mobile email users:

  • 54% states that with mobile email, they check work email at home and home email at work more often

  • 67% state that they check email more often (early in the
    morning, late at night, during the weekend or on vacation) (this goes
    up to 78% for US respondents)

Mobile email makes their personal and business life run more smoothly:

  • 45% state that their personal life runs more smoothly as I can connect with anybody whenever needed

  • 42% state that their day at work runs a lot more smoothly thanks to mobile email

· Mobile email makes them more productive:

  • 77% of respondents state that thanks to mobile email, they are
    able to respond to email a lot faster (85% for respondents who are less
    than 25 years old)

  • 45% state that mobile email helps them be more productive

· Mobile email makes them less stressed

  • 33% state that mobile email help them be less stressed
