A website sells a code to unlock T-Mobile G1 phones to use another SIM like AT&T. Unlock-TMobileG1.com charges $23.99 USD for unlocking the T-Mobile G1 via an unlock code. Once the G1 is unlocked, the user can't use his/her Google account, rendering Google functions useless.
Now let's think about this, someone buys the G1 for $179.99 and has to sign a two year contract with T-Mobile. Then he/she wants to use the phone on another network, for which he/she will have to pay monthly fees..... That doesn't make sense.
The unlocking website offers a refund to anyone making a video of themselves unlocking their T-Mobile G1 with Google.
There's video of a guy in a yellow shirt (Loic Le Meur, founder of Seesmic )complaining abut the T-Mobile G1and says he's going to return it because:
- The battery life is horrible.
- Everything has to go through Google to sync.
- The camera is bad, it's slow.
- No video.
- Can only up HTML or PDF images, can't open up Word Docs, Excel spreadsheet.
He asks others to join in his conversion via seesmic.com. More traditional reviews like the ones we reviewed in our Review of Reviews of the The T-Mobile G1 Phone rate it at 3.5.
