Obama's BlackBerry Banned from White House?

Barack Obama is an avid BlackBerry user and sends emails to his friends and colleagues from it. He also reads speeches and reports on it. He may, however, have to give up his digital assistant due to concerns about email security and records public review requirements.

The International Herald Tribune reports:

".. he will probably be forced to
sign off. In addition to concerns about e-mail security, he faces the
Presidential Records Act, which puts his correspondence in the official
record and ultimately up for public review, and the threat of
subpoenas."

No decision has been made yet from the Obama team.  He will however be the first president to use a notebook computer in the Oval office. 

The article also notes, Obama's BlackBerry messages are usually clean and well-written without typos and often sent in the middle of the nights.

Although the possibility seems unlikely, if security is implemented, and he uses the BlackBerry for official business only, he may opt for BlackBerry use. 

George W. Bush banned use of all personal email when he entered office.

This BlackBerry decision seems just as controversial as the Obama dog selection.
