Here's a new iPhone app for skiiers called Snocator (pronounced "snow-kay-ter")
that uses interactive GPS trail maps to show users exactly where they are
on the mountain, and plan out their next run, rendezvous or o hot
chocolate from the ski lodge.
Users
can also check snow reports, mountain cams and weather forecasts to get
up-to-date information on their favorite resorts as they plan their next ski
vacation, or just their afternoon on the slopes.
Built
for snow sports addicts by snow sports addicts, Snocator is the only iPhone
application to use location-enabled ski maps to show snow sports enthusiasts
where they are on the mountain, with all nearby lifts, runs, lodges, terrain
parks and more pictured in detail.
mapping feature is available at most ski resorts in the U.S. and Canada. Snow
reports, mountain cams, and weather info are available for most ski resorts
worldwide.
For
beginning skiers, there is no longer a need for anxiety about finding the
easiest way down or avoiding black-diamond runs with ominous names like
"Widowmaker" and "Cannonball" - much less the incessant and finger-numbing
fumbling with large folding paper maps on chairlifts or in high
winds.
For
advanced skiers and powder-hounds, a quick check with Snocator is all that's
needed to determine where the deep snow is or figure out how to get back to the
lifts after an impromptu off-piste tree run.
Snocator
is available at major ski resorts in the U.S. and Canada and works anywhere
users have a data signal or Wi-Fi connection with the
iPhone.
In
future releases, Useful Networks is adding the ability to let users track their
runs (bragging rights, anyone?), find friends and family on the mountains, and a
host of other additions to make Snocator even more useful and
fun.
The
Snocator application is currently available for download at the iPhone App Store
for immediate use, and works at all major ski resorts in the U.S. in Canada. To
