AT&T GR8ST Moment in Cotton Bowl History Contest

What's the greatest moment in AT&T Cotton Bowl history? Now texters and web surfers have the chance to decide.

AT&T  is offering  the Greatest Moment in AT&T Cotton Bowl History
contest, which allows fans to vote for the best play in Cotton Bowl
history.

Fans can vote online at www.attcottonbowl.com/vote, and AT&T wireless customers can also vote by texting A, B or C to 7313. Football fans can choose from three classic plays that were selected by the Cotton Bowl Committee, including:

  • A: The "Bench Tackle" in the 1954 game
featuring Rice and Alabama, where Alabama's Tommy Lewis lept off the
bench to tackle Rice halfback Dick Maegle on his way to clear a
touchdown. The referee determined that had it not been for Lewis,
Maegle would have surely scored, and Rice was awarded a 95-yard
    touchdown.
  • B: The "Fourth-Down Catch" in
the 1970 game with Texas and Notre Dame. With only two and a half
minutes remaining, Longhorn quarterback James Street and coach Darrell
Royal hatched the plan that culminated with a diving fourth-down catch
by Cotton Spreyrer to keep the drive alive. Texas would go on to score
and secure their second national championship in seven years.
  • C:
"Montana's Miracle Comeback" in the 1979 game with Notre Dame vs.
Houston. The Fighting Irish were down 22 points going into the fourth
quarter. By the end of the game, a legend was born as Joe Montana
orchestrated one of the greatest comebacks in college football history.
Montana connected with Kris Haines to tie the game as time expired, and
Joe Unnis stepped in to kick the extra point to give Notre Dame the
    victory.

"For die-hard college football fans, this is a great opportunity to
get in the action and vote for the best play in the history of the
Cotton Bowl," said Tim McGhee, executive director, AT&T Corporate
Sponsorships. "We're proud to provide the wireless technology for this
competition. With three amazing plays to choose from, this is an
exciting contest for these athletic programs and fans."

The Greatest Moment winner will be announced at the 2009 AT&T
Cotton Bowl Classic on January 2 in Dallas. Fans can vote an unlimited
number of times online or by text, and voters are automatically entered
