Engadget wrote of the Palm Pre the  UI is incredibly well thought out and smooth making things easy and smooth. The Palm Pre is

surprisingly light and thin but doesn't feel like a toy. The camera takes decent photos and has an LED flash.

Gizmodo call the Palm Pre simply amazing and the most important handset to be announced in two years. The OS looked great. The accelerometer works quite well. The hardware is high quality. The browser was extremely responsive. The screen is beautiful and takes beautiful photos. Features not found on iPhone include copy and paste and MMS.

Bonnie Cha at CNET wrote that the highlight of the Palm Pre is the user-interface and called it beautiful and cool. Multitasking was easy. The screen is sharp and brilliant. The hardware feels solid and it appears that time and effort were put into the design.  The web browser is oustanding. It brings a fresh look and way to interact with smartphones. She thinks it will overtake the BlackBerry Storm and the stiffest competition for the iPhone.

Greg Kumparak at MobileCrunch called the OS "gorgeous,' and the card deck management system fantastic. Gesture functions that were multi-touch worked well. For someone who deals with these kinds of tech toys all the time his best comment is "I want one, Boy oh Boy do I want one."
