Toshiba has unveiled their new touchscreen Windows Mobille TG01 smartphone with a bigger display,
a higher resolution, faster processor and slimmer shell than any other
smartphone, including Apple's iPhone.
"Toshiba has listened to what users want - great speed, and the interaction of a
touchscreen, but more importantly you want it to look really slick,
very slim and very sexy," Toshiba's U.K. manger, Med Jeewoth said.
The Toshiba TG01 has a 4.1-inch touchscreen, with WVGA(800 x 480) resolution and measures 9.9mm thick. It's powered by a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The screen has been called "gorgeous."
The Windows Mobile interface has been widgetized and re-skinned for
ease of use with a 3D gesture-based input system. The geture technology
allows users to control the smartphone through
finger swipes, as well as tilting and shaking the unit.
The Toshiba TG01 also has GPS, HSDPA and HSUPA, DivX support and
Internet Explorer Mobile 6, with full Flash support. It can use up
to a 32 GB microSD card.
ElectricPig's James Holland commented on its slimness, makes the iPhone and BlackBery Bold look "tubby." Toshiba TG01 comes in White and Black and siexpect to ship in June of 2009
