BlackBerry Media Sync Updated

balckberrymediasync.jpgRIM has updated the BlackBerry Media Sync so that it syncs with Windows Media Player.  BlackBerry Media Sync 2 will sync play lists and album art. They have also added improved media detection and new languages.

Media Sync also supports shuffling of songs. To make sure there's enough free memory on the BlackBerry smartphone,
BlackBerry Media Sync lets users set a limit as to how much--or how
little--of  music to sync.

Note: If iTunes and Windows Media
Player generate libraries from the same media source it may result in
duplicate content on the BlackBerry smartphone. Each library maintains
a separate record of the synchronization. iTunes does not detect albums
and songs that may have already been downloaded using Windows Media
Player, and Windows Media Player does not detect albums and songs
already downloaded using iTunes.

Improved detection of supported file types and formats

BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 detects which files are
supported and which files are not supported for playing on a BlackBerry
smartphone. BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 detects files controled by DRM,
along with extensions, container types, and codecs that are not
supported on the BlackBerry smartphone. BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 does
not copy files that cannot be played, but instead lists them in a Files
Not Synchronized dialog box. When synchronizing is complete, a
Synchronization Progress dialog box is displayed. To see the list of
songs that were not synchronized to the BlackBerry smartphone, click
the appropriate link and click on the song in the playlist that
displays the status Protected. The Files Not Synchronized dialog box displays.

Enhanced album art support

BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 includes support for album
art that was not a part of the original music file. For example, an
image is copied to a music file (in iTunes or Windows Media Player)
that was not the original album art. The non-embedded album art can now
be imported by BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0.

BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 includes support for all formats of images assigned as album art, not just the jpg format.

Note: Windows Media Player
automatically imports album art. To import album art from the iTunes
library, an import option is available on the Options screen.
