The smartphones came with one month of service from T-Mobile. They included version 1.5 of the Android operating system, named "Cupcake. . It looks like, if you don't need a keyboard this smartphone is faster and more powerful than the T-Mobile G1.

- The Android Ion has voice search.
- When typing words, the HTC Sapphire has predicts words.
- 5 megapixel camera with video capture.
- 528-MHz Qualcomm processor,
- 3G and Wi-Fi.
- Stereo Bluetooth support.
Apparently there was a party during the conference, and well to celebrate the launch of then new cupcake version of the Andriod OS they served. Google cupcakes.
