Palm to Make Little Sister to Palm Pre: Pixie, Eos, Castle, Mini-Pre

palm_eos_engadget_1.jpgAccording to TechCruch, Palm will launch a mini-version of the Palm Pre, code named "Pixie." The Palm Pixie will use the WebOS operation system and be a smaller "candy bar" style smartphone with a price of $99 and will come out a few months after the Palm Pre.  It will have a keyboard similar to the Palm Centro.

Engadget on the other Palm, has a sneak peak photo of a Palm smartpone they call Eos  Mini Pre or Castle and points out there is a GSM version of the smartphone, that they say take "with a grain of salt." for Sprint in Q3 and AT&T.

Engadget claims the following specs for the Palm Pixie Eos Castle Mini-Pre:

  • Touchscreen:2.63-inch, 320 x 400 capacitive.
  • Quadband GSM / HSDPA.
  • 4GB storage.
  • 10.6mm thin 55mm x 111mm  weight 100 grams.
  • Price: $349 (pre-rebate).
  • 2 megapixel fixed focus digital camera and flash / video capture.
  • Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP and EDR, USB 2.0 via micro USB.
  • 1150 mAh battery (4 hours 3G talk time).
  • Messaging: SMS, MMS (picture and video only), integrated IM client.
  • Contact sync with AT&T Address Book.
  • Cellular Video.
  • Email: POP3, IMAP4, and EAS support.
  • A-GPS.
  • Audio: WAV, MP3, AAC, AAC+ ringtones.
