If you were lucky enough to pre-order a new iPhone 3GS at an AT&T store, you should be very satisfied, because now AT&T pre-orders will be arriving later than the June19 release date.
According to Apple-Insider pre-orders starting this past weekend will arrive between seven and
fourteen days later, meaning they will miss the scheduled release date
of June 19.
It appears that the Apple retail website is still showing "The Apple Online Store: Pre-order an iPhone 3G S from the Apple Online Store and it will arrive on June 19 with free shipping. iPhone 3G is available now." You can get the classic iPhone 3G for $99 as of today.
If you want to be the "first" getting the iPhone 3GS then you one option is to wait in line, notes one report. However, you stand a much better chance if you go to the Apple website and make a reservation.
Go to the Apple Retail Store website, start at "Get Started" button underneath the iPhone 3G S banner. When your reserve your iPhone 3G S you pick out your iPhone 3G S model and
accompanying rate plan. When you got to the Apple store on Friday,
hand the store employee your information and it should expediate the buying process.
Beware because in the fine print it states, "Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple
Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis."
Alternatives to Apple and AT&T outlets are Best Buy and Walmart. It wouldn't hurt to call your local store the day before to check on stock and iPhone sale procedures on June 19th.
