The BlackBerry Tour is the much awaited super-sized world-version BlackBerry Bold/BlackBerry Curve-like BlackBerry smartphone coming out on July 12 from Sprint and Verizon. We are currently working on a review of the BlackBerry Tour that will appear this Sunday July 12, but you may want to wait before you buy the BlackBerry Tour because it was revealed today that Sprint will be offering a Wi-Fi version of the BlackBerry Tour, next year.
"It is now a requirement for all our PDA equipment suppliers to
include Wi-Fi," said Jeff Clemow, the carrier's director of business
product marketing, according to FierceWireless. "Several quarters ago we made a conscious decision to require all of our PDA suppliers to support Wi-Fi."
Celmow didn't say when the Wi-Fi BlackBerry Tour will appear.
Also joining the Wi-Fi pack wil the BlackBerry Storm 2, expect to be coming out from Verizon in the Fall.
Wi-Fi comes in handy when there is data service is not avialable when you need to surf the web and check email.
In our sneak peak review of the BlackBerry Tour, reviewers liked the big keyboard and over feel, while they almost all hated the fact that the BlackBerry Tour did not not come with Wi-Fi, yet.
Another feature that makes the BlackBerry Tour desirable is that like the BlackBerry Storm it can be tethered as a modem for a data connection for your laptop computer.
