Trend Micro has alerted the public to new malware for Symbian phones. SYMBOS_YXES.B has the potential for damage, propagation, or both. It has also received attention from independent media sources and/or other security firms.
The Symbian Information Source (SIS) file collects phone identification, subscriber identification and network information from the mobile phone/device.
The malware then attempts to intercept web traffic, allowing it to get
possible messages, which it can spam and send to contacts found in the
compromised device. This symbian malware can be downloaded unknowingly by a user from malicious web sites.
It may also compose messages that can be part of its spamming routine.
