Five lucky Jonas Brothers fans and their friends and family members
had a lot more to cheer about this weekend. That's because they
submitted the winning videos in a Green Screen Community video contest
during the Jonas Brothers' recent world tour.
The winners were hosted
this past weekend by Verizon Wireless and LG Mobile Phones, compliments
of Connecticut's Mohegan Sun, for a fun-filled weekend, which included
a Saturday night concert at Mohegan Sun Arena. The following day the
lucky winners played kickball with Kevin, Nick and Joe at the Kick for
Change event held at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn., home of the
Connecticut Defenders baseball team.
The Kick for Change event provided tickets to the game to
members of the community who have made it a priority to give back. The
event highlighted the Jonas Brothers' Change for the Children
Foundation and its mission to support programs that motivate and
inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a
will to succeed.
The Jonas Brothers' team, the Kickballers, featured
the Jonas Brothers, as well as heroes from the Connecticut chapters of
the Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the
United Way. Other local organizations that took part in the Kick for
Change included the Boys and Girls Club, the Norwich School District,
the Norwich Police Department and several local domestic violence
organizations, among others.
All equipment and officials for the game
were provided by the World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA).
Fans in attendance at Kick for Change had the opportunity to
donate their old phones to the Verizon Wireless HopeLineĀ® program
during the event. Proceeds from HopeLine are used to provide wireless
phones to victims of domestic violence and cash grants to non-profit
advocacy organizations that promote domestic violence prevention and
awareness.
Green Screen Community Contest
The contest
winners created their videos live at Jonas Brothers concert venues, on
their Verizon Wireless mobile phones or from their computers. Each week
during the contest, V CAST Live members voted on the videos, and the
video garnering the highest number of votes was declared the winner
each week. The Jonas Brothers then selected Brittany Ilardi as the
Grand Prize winner, and she and nine friends and family members played
the first kickball game against the band. The other weekly winners,
Holli Richardson, Samantha Thompson, Krista Payloff and Ruby Lindberg,
each brought one guest who combined to form the second
