Free iPhone Apps 2Day: CBS News

The free application delivers breaking news, video, and instant access to Twitter feeds on hot topics from CBS reporters, as well as users from around the globe. The new app also offers dedicated sections for each of CBS News' award-winning shows, featuring full-length episodes on-demand and access to CBSNews.com original programming. The application is available now from the App Store.

Features:

Twitter Feeds: Insights and breaking news from more than 40 live CBS News Twitter feeds. Users can navigate by specific reporters, by shows, or by topic through the unique "News Trends" section--a collection of the top stories from feeds across Twitter.

Social Media Integration: The CBS News iPhone application ties into all popular social networks such as Twitter, Digg and Delicious. Users can now share stories, videos and images with others in their social networks.

Weather Targeted to Your Location: Powered by AccuWeather, the CBS News application provides real time, and extended weather forecasts targeted automatically by each user's location. Users can also check weather conditions in other cities.

CBS Mobile partnered with Treemo Labs to develop the application, and Transpera to power the video and ad capabilities in the application. The CBS News application is now available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

The CBS News app is also currently available on the Blackberry platform (http://blackberry.cbsnews.com), and CBS Mobile will launch applications for the Android OS and Palm Pre, which will be available later this fall.
