SEVEN, released results from
its semi-annual user community survey. Of the more than 1,000 global
subscribers who completed the online survey, the majority ranked
services and applications as the key drivers in selecting a device,
while device form factor and appeal ranked second. Other top factors include push email and real-time updates.
Conducted in August,
the online survey included 20 questions related to mobile messaging
usage, including the importance of specific applications, quality of the
user experience, and expected future usage.
"Hands down, consumer and business users from all four corners of the
globe feel that services and applications are most important in the
device selection process," said Isabelle Dumont, senior director
of marketing at SEVEN. "This belief is well-aligned with our overall
strategy of working with global manufacturers and operators to integrate
SEVEN push-enabled services into new devices before they even hit the
shelves."
Mobile Email with High-quality User Experience is Key.
Citing real-time and automated updates along with improved battery life
as key advantages of a push mobile email solution, 82% of all
respondents confirmed that having a true push mobile email experience
was critical to their high level of satisfaction with the SEVEN solution.
The business-user-only trend for mobile email is a thing of the past. In
fact, the majority of users said they already use SEVEN for both
personal and business email, and another 32% said that they use SEVEN
for personal email only. The remaining 16% claimed that they only use it
for work.
When asked specifically about the benefits of mobile email, 74% cited
the ability to respond to email faster as a key benefit. In addition,
North American users led the mobile email usage pack with 95% stating
that they use the service every day, and 91% reporting that push-enabled
email delivery is important.
Dumont continued, "Many of the positive comments we received from
participants - from ease-of-use to the ability to receive email updates
in real-time - speak volumes about what we are providing with our System
SEVEN push-enabled platform of services. The fact that more than half of
respondents use SEVEN mobile email for both personal and work
underscores the importance of providing mobile email that can be pushed
to them and easily discoverable and accessible on a single device. We
were pleased to find that more than 95% of respondents said that they
were satisfied with SEVEN's services and would recommend SEVEN Mobile
Email to friends, family and colleagues."
Device Type Doesn't Really Matter.
The survey found daily usage of mobile email to be equally high at 90%
for respondents with a touch-screen or QWERTY device, while 83% of users
with 12-key devices reported using mobile email daily. Satisfaction
levels with SEVEN mobile email also posted high with all three types of
devices, as 98% of touch-screen devices users saying that they would
recommend SEVEN to friends, family and colleagues, followed by 97% of
12-key device users and 95% of QWERTY users. In terms of the importance
of push-enabled services, 91% of touch-screen users, 89% of QWERTY users
and 82% of 12-key device users say that having a push-enabled mobile
email service is important.
