A new free iPhone app puts patient info in the hands of the emergency first responders. The iPhone "In Case of Emergency"
ICE App keeps your emergency contact information and critical
medical data on your person iPhone.
The app creates an ice-cube icon with a medical cross on it with the name ICE.
People across the globe have been entering their ICE (emergency)
contact in their cell phone address book so that First Responders, such
as EMTs and fire personnel, know who to call for critical medical
information about an accident or disaster victim who cannot speak for
themselves.
<p>LegalZoom.com partnered with Donate Life America to take the ICE concept to a whole
new level for the 50 million people who own an iPhone or iPod Touch.
The free ICE App provides first responders with the person's name,
photograph, date of birth, height and weight; emergency contact names
and numbers; medical conditions, blood type, food allergies, medication
allergies, and current medications; plus the patient's organ donation
preference.
All ICE App information is kept on the iPhone - and not the
Web - ensuring private information is kept safe and that first
responders have access to information even when the phone has a weak or
no cellular signal.
The free ICE App from LegalZoom and Donate Life America can be found in the iPhone Apps Store by searching for “ice-app”. For more information, visit http://ice-app.net/.
