The Google Nexus One had received fab first looks, and then well "issues" appeared with long waits for email support.  When customers can't phone a company then they start posting problems to forums seeking help. Then reporters can peruse the forums seeing what technical issues are up.

But wait, in the forums lies a very helpful phone number.  A PHONE NUMBER for Nexus One technical Support----Hallelujah....1.888.216.4736 - where a nice tech support person will talk you through the steps to recalibrate the screen, deal with other technical support issues, such as software or setting up your phone and  processing RMAs for warranty issues. When we called, we had no trouble getting through.

The latest "issue" with the Google Nexus One phone is that that sometimes after a cold boot the touchscreen controls "go crazy" the touchscreen keys don't type correctly.  When the Nexus One is turned back on, the touchscreen worked fine.

Another user reported a similar issue " After about 30 minutes to an hour of use, taps start not registering or registering taps below where I actually tap."

An answer to the forum posts was "I have the same issues at time and as the OP said a turn off of the
screen and turn back on fixes it.  My motocliq used to do this and they
released a software update that addressed it somewhat.  It's software
related and I'm sure they will release a patch."

There are dozens of similar complaints registered on the forum. For now, the best answer seems to be reboot and call tech support to re-calilbrate the screen.

Users who contacted HTC got this email response:

Thank you for contacting HTC

First, let's start with a
soft-reset. To do this, remove your battery and leave it out 3 seconds,
then reinstall the battery and power your device on. If this does not
solve the issue then lets try a Master Factory Reset.

A Master hard
reset removes all information from your device and returns it to a
state just like it has never been used before. All contacts, messages,
emails, 3rd party applications, etc. will need to be reinstalled after
performing a hard reset.

To do a reset within phone.....Go to Settings, Privacy, and Factory Reset.

If
you are still experiencing the same issue after doing a MASTER RESET
please contact our Nexus One support team to set up an exchange, as
this may be a device issue!
