First Looks Favorable of Nexus One Superphone from Google, Reviewed by Wireless and Mobile News Review of Reviews

The Nexus One super phone from Goggle made a splash, yesterday. We thought we'd take a look at the first reviews, impressions and opinions. Some reviewers were given the Nexus One for a few weeks.  The reviewers all agree that the Nexus One is the best Android smartphone to-date (yet.)

We were trying to round-up our usual suspects who review smartphones, however, many of them are en route to CES and have not filed reviews yet. The reviews from reviewers who  had time to look at the Nexus One range from meh to marvelous.

Most reviewers praised the gorgeous brilliant AMOLED screen display on the Nexus One  with only one mentioning that it is hard to see in daylight. The 5 MP camera, video, browser, processor and call quality were all well rated. One of its best features is integration with Google Web features(Google Navigation, Maps, Gmail, Google Voice) and social networking.

As far as speed goes the process never lagged and all of the reviewers found it to work well. Some found the onscreen keyboard tricky and the buttons hard to operate or sticky. The voice-to-text in any field was found to be 100% accurate by one reviewer and less accurate by others.

When more full reviews from reviewers are available we will publish a full "Review of Reviews of the Nexus One Google Super Phone."

You can only buy the Nexus One directly from the Google webstore.  It is not available in T-Mobile stores.  The Nexus One  is priced at $179 with a T-Mobile contract or $529 unlocked.  Although it will accept an AT&T SIM card because the 3G networks are different it will only run EDGE data on AT&T.
Harry Mc Craken at PCWorld called the Nexus One the "best Android phone so far." It's a bit better than Droid. There's nothing particularly remarkable about it. The screen is slightly larger than the iPhones. The screen is excellent and trumps the iPhone's screen. The camera is better than Droid. Dictation into text fields was 100% accurate. The processor is speedy and zippy. It better than iPhone for Google related apps and maps.

Walt Mossberg also called the Nexus One "the best Android phone so far," it has "the right combination of hardware and software....that might attract more people away from iconic iPhones and BlackBerrys." It could even lure away iPhone owners from AT&T to Verizon. Overall in tests it world very well. The screen is magnificent.  He liked the social networking information, and videos/photos taking. The buttons were sticky and hard to press. The Nexus One takes Android to a whole new level.

Om Malik rated the Nexus One 7.5 out of 10. It is best Android phone on the market.  He liked its good looks, Google integrations (if you a Google user, ) and rock solid browser.  The software isn't simple like the iPhone.  He had a tough time using the Nexus One as phone and for text message. The touchscreen typing was tricky.  It has remarkable battery life.

Michael Arrington at TechCrunch called the Nexus One  "the best Android-powered phone to date," and the Android signature device. The Nexus One has the "best mobile phone display on the market today, blowing away the iPhone's 480 x 320 display. There is no sluggishness. Google Voice makes it a superior mobile device. He found the text-field filling via voice about 90% accurate. The noise cancellation is useful and call quality was excellent. The camera shines.

Joshua Topolsky at Engagdet in one of the earliest reviews of the Nexus called "at its core just another Android phone" and no  "Earth-shattering, paradigm-skewing device." It's a good Android phone but he thinks the Droid is better. The Nexus One has "a class-leading processor, vibrant display, sexy shell, and just a
sprinkling of geekiness." He found the Nexus One to be handsome, layout  is solid, buttons were troublesome. The phone is fast. The brilliant AMOLED is hard to see in daylight The camera was good. The mic was good but the speaker is tinny Because it doesn't have multitouch, gaming on the Nexus One is abysmal.
