Apple's iTune Downloads Top 10 Billion, Will Sell CBS TV Shows

showcase_lead_10billion20100218.pngNo one can deny that there are lot songs downloaded via iTunes, Apple announced that over ten billion songs have been downloaded. There have also been reports that CBS will be selling their shows on iTunes for $1.00 each.

iTunes is the top  music retailer in the world
and features the world's largest music catalog with over 12 million
songs. According to NPD MusicWatch,  Apple iTunes leads in
the U.S. with 25 percent of music units sold. Walmart (including Walmart,
Walmart.com, Walmart Music Downloads) remains in second position with
14 percent of music volume sold at their stores and websites with Best
Buy ranked third. For digital music sales, iTunes represents 69 percent of all U.S. purchases,
followed by Amazon MP3 at 8 percent.

iTunes hit 5 billion in June of 2008. There was a lucky 10-Billioneth downloader.
The 10 billionth song, "Guess Things Happen That Way" by Johnny Cash,
was purchased by Louie Sulcer of Woodstock, Georgia. As the winner of
the iTunes Countdown to 10 Billion Songs, Louie will receive a $10,000
iTunes Gift Card.
