Verizon has released an update for the BlackBerry Storm2 to  OS 5.0.0.607 via Over-the-Air updates, through BlackBerry Desktop Manager and via the web.

The file is 113 megabytes, it will takes 25 - 30 minutes (including device reset at the end of the process.) The BlackBerry Storm2  OS 5.0.0.607 update enhances video/music, improves mluti-tasking, betters messaging, the key-lock is easier and battery life is better.

Make sure you backup your data first.

The update BlackBerry Storm2  OS 5.0.0.607 does a lot:

  • Improved video recording and playback in the camera application.
  • Enhanced music features to allow tracks to resume playback after responding to an incoming call.

  • Simplified key-lock function. A password is no longer needed unless a security timeout has occurred.

  • Enhanced display response to the touch user interface.
  • Stability improvements made to Voice Activated Dialing application.
  • Overall improvements to battery life.
  • When using your device with a Bluetooth® headset, the Silent option now appears as expected in the trusted drop-down list.

To Back Up Data:

Open up the Blackberry Desktop Manager Program and click on Backup and Restore .

Select Backup and save the data on your computer.

How to Update BlackBerry Storm From Your Computer:

  • Open up Blackberry Desktop Manager Program (available for download from your service provider or RIM.)
  • Click on Application Loader.
  • Click on Update software and follow the prompts.
  • Make sure the USB cable is connected to your computer and your BlackBerry Storm2.
