Google is on a buying spree buying an app/widget developer, Labpixies and processor start-up Agnilux.
Google announced that acquired one of the first developers to create gadgets for iGoogle was Labpixies, a company Google worked with on OpenSocial based
gadgets. Recently, Google decided that they could do more if we were part
of the same team.
LabPixies is a publisher of web and mobile applications The service offer useful gadget applications web pages, mobile phones or
public profiles.
LabPixies posted on their website:
"We started LabPixies to create
a truly personalized online experience and develop fun widgets that
people find useful every day. Working at Google will help us scale to
more users as well as giving our team greater opportunities. Google and
LabPixies teams have worked on many projects together including the
launch of global OpenSocial based gadgets. The acquisition is an
opportunity to learn from each other to bring more apps to users, help
developers and improve the overall developer ecosystem.
Q: What will happen to LabPixies' current products, will they
continue?
A: There are no planned changes, but we will continue to evaluate this
over time.
Google acquired Agnilux, a startup of
former Apple employees who were part of a team that worked on the application processor used for
Apple's iPad. Some believe Google will use their technology for new
mobile chips or for better faster server processors for search.
