The competition is heating up. An unnamed Best Buy source, revealed that HTC EVO 4G will sell for $200 with a contract, while Sprint and HTC are gearing up their media blast for HTC EVO 4G, their next Android super smartphone.
The HTC
EVO 4G smartphone is expected to have data speeds 10x
faster than 3G, Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, a large 4.3 inch screen with
lots of video appeal including Flash support. It has been called
breath-taking.
The price of $200 puts it smack up against the next iPhone, well-reviewed HTC Droid Incredible, BlackBerry Bold 9650 (BlackBerryTour2), and new Windows Phone kinds of KIN we mapped out in our spring release calendar.
The HTC EVO 4G will be demoed at an event in New York on May 12, making a release probably soon after. Because it is associated with a movie, we suspect that the video capabilities of the HTC EVO 4G will be a key selling point. Latest rumors suggest a June 13 launch date.
Some bloggers are saying the HTC EVO 4G is an iPhone killer and
that they will leave AT&T for Sprint and HTC EVO 4G.
The HTC EVO 4G is about the same size as the always selling
out
HTC HD2 from T-Mobile.
Reviews
refer to the large 4.3 inch AMOLED touchscreen (larger than the iPhone)
showing video as absolutely gorgeous. The camera takes great photos.
The HTC Sense UI is user-friendly and combines contacts. The onscreen
keyboard with Swype is spacious and easy to use. Browsing is delightful
with pinch to zoom. The processor is super fast making the HTC HD2 the
best smartphone T-Mobile has to offer.
