Skyhook location based technology will be deployed on Motorola Android smartphones, pushing out Google. Motorola will integrate Skyhook's Core Location technology directly into
its Android platform. Core Location uses of Wi-Fi, cellular and GPS readings for an accurate location.
Moto Android smartphones with Skyhook will begin shipping later
this year, using
location-aware applications with Skyhook's location engine.
Location helps users to
check-in with friends, find nearby concerts and exhibits, or get
directions. For turn-by-turn navigation or local search, location is the central
feature. New types of apps in music, sports,
and entertainment are incorporating location to personalize content
delivery.

Skyhook's Core Engine can provide location-awareness to any Wi-Fi
enabled device. Its portable
architecture delivers location while minimizing device-specific
implementation time. The Core Engine client is an entirely software-only
location system and does not require specialized hardware chipsets. The
lightweight client can be configured to run across a broad range of
mobile operating systems, devices and platforms.
