T-Mobile Drops 5GB webConnect Mobile Broadband Cap--Throttles Instead

TmobilewebConnect.pngT-Mobile USA dropped extra charges for the 5 GB monthly webConnect mobile data plan, Instead, it throttle data speeds over the limit by not allowing streaming audio and video. The webConnect mobile broadband service is for their USB laptop stick and Dell Mini netbook.

T-Mobile also lowered overage charges for the 200 MB monthly plan from $0.20 to $0.10 per MB.

They used to charge $0.20 per MB of data that users went over their 5 GB limit; instead speed will choked, the website calls it "After 5 Gigabytes, data speed may be reduced."

T-Mobile reported that a "very small" number of users go over 5 GB
per month when the plan is used in conjunction with an existing home
broadband service.

A T-Mobile sales rep told ZDnet's Joel Evans that when the
connection is throttled, it will work for browsing, email, and IM, but
not for streaming audio/video.

T-Mobile will be upgrading their HSPA+ network this year. New
promotions include the 5 GB plan now costing $40 per month and the 200
MB plan at s $20 per month for existing T-Mobile subscribers.
