Verizon Wireless Data Revs and Pre-Paid Subs Grow

Verizon Wireless reported its financial data for the first quarter of 2010. Verizon added 1.55 million net new wireless customers  with 1.3 million prepaid subscribers. Overall sales increased 1.2% as wireless revenue climbed 4.4% from a year earlier, with wireless-service revenue up 5.9% on growth in data customers. 

Verizon is still holding strong with growth in data revenue. Verizon have been heavily promoting smartphones that require data plans, first with the Buy One Get One Free BlackBerry deal followed by the buy any 3G smartphone get a 3G smartphone deal.

It's interesting to note the average monthly agreement is $50.95.

continued to grow its retail customer base, adding 423,000
retail postpaid and
284,000 total retail customers in the quarter.The total number of
customers at the end of the quarter was 92.8
million, an increase of 7.2 percent year over year.

Retail data revenue was up 25.6 percent to
$4.5 billion. Service revenues in the first quarter were $13.8 billion,
up 5.9 percent. Total revenues were $15.8 billion, up 4.4 percent year
over year.Retail service ARPU (average monthly service revenue per user)

remained the same year over year at $50.95. Retail data ARPU increased
to $17.06, up 19.6 percent year over year.
