Adobe has launched a new ad campaign, showing their love for all devices and markets. They say they are open and want freedom of creativity, they are obviously not pleased with Apple not supporting Flash in mobile phones and the iPad.
Adobe is running ads stating,
“We Heart Apple. What we don’t love is anybody taking away your freedom to choose what you create, how you create it and what you experience on the web
They note “At Adobe, we believe that the open flow of creativity, ideas, and
information should be limited only by the imagination. They say that openess is at the core of their beliefs.
They contend that the Adobe Flash technology enables the delivery of
content to
hundreds of millions of people, regardless of platform or browser. In
2009, in partnership with Google, Research In Motion, and dozens of
other companies, They formed the Open Screen
Project, a coalition committed to making web experiences seamlessly
available on any mobile device.
In an open letter from cofounders Chuck
Geschke and John Warnock,
“We believe that consumers
should be able to freely access their favorite
content and applications, regardless of what computer they have, what
browser they like, or what device suits their needs. No company — no
matter how big or how creative — should dictate what you can create, how
you create it, or what you can experience on the web.”
Here’s
where they take a bite at Apple, “We believe that Apple, by taking the
opposite approach, has taken a step
that could undermine this next chapter of the web — the chapter in
which mobile devices outnumber computers, any individual can be a
publisher, and content is accessed anywhere and at any time.”
In April, Apple changed the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement mandating all iPhone and iPod touch applications must be written to run directly on the iPhone platform, making sure that software translation solutions like Adobe’s CS5 would not work.
