The price wars are continuing for prepaid subscribers. Sprint’s Virgin Mobile now claims it is the lowest-priced* BlackBerry *service plan on the market. Virgin has cut prices by including unlimited text, data, web and email while capping only voice calls.
The new plans start at $25 a month. Leaving users more money to attend the Virgin Mobile Sponsored Lady Gaga Monsters’ Ball Tour with tickets starting at $49.50 and as high as $400.00
“We brought together the resources and experience of the Boost and Virgin Mobile teams in late 2009,” said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. “Since that time, we have been developing the critical pieces of our multi-brand prepaid strategy.”
The Virgin Mobile business will be geared for people who use text and data services to power constant connection with their social networks.
“These are for younger, power-connecters that are primarily on their social networks,” Dan Schulman, president of Sprint’s prepaid group said in an interview, “There’s no use in having thousands of minutes if you don’t use them.”
Instead of per-minute fees, the service will offer unlimited messaging, email, data and web included on all plans starting at $25 a month up to $60 depending on the number of minutes.
The $25 per-month plan comes with 300 minutes of talk time while $40 a month will get 1,200 minutes, and unlimited minutes will cost $60 a month.The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is $299,99, the LG Rumor Touch- $149.99 (without contract only), the LG Rumor 2 $89.99, and the Kyocera Loft for $69.99.
