From the day it went on the sale, the Droid Incredible by HTC has been selling out. Now we know why. Verizon's Lowell McAdam said on Friday that the shortage was due to a shortage of parts.
There's a shortage of WVGA capacitive display assemblies manufactured by Samsung. Then entire
shipments of the HTC Droid Incredible are selling out within
hours of their arrival at retail stores.
McAdam told MSNBC, "When a shipment gets to a store now, it's gone in a matter of hours...
We've had to pull way back ... Right now supply is a big problem."
The Droid
Incredible has gotten rave reviews with similar features to the
Nexus One with the added bonuses of a higher resolution camera and
trackpad
The shortage is so "dire" that Verizon has had to hold back on retail shipments and concentrate on online sales. Without the shortage the Droid Incredible would have out-sold the first Droid by Motorola. 100,000 Droid Incredible smartphones where sold in the first few days of availability.
Online Verizon sales will be shipped by June 4 if ordered online.
Pricing is $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate

Call your local Verizon stores frequently to find out when they expect shipments.
Ask if they have a waiting list.
Check at the online stores
frequently. Previously Wirefly!had decent supply but now they are
saying back-ordered ships in two or three weeks.
It you see the words "out-of-stock" that's when you should check the
online store frequently when the
HTC Touch Pro 2 sold-out, last fall, sometimes it showed up online
for sale for only for a few hours.
