A Sprint rep has informed Engadget that Sprint will not be selling the Google Nexus One smartphone instead it will use all its publicity blitz for the Android HTC
EVO 4G.Previously, Verizon also nixed the Nexus One in favor of the well-reviewed often sold-out Droid Incredible which has the same power of the Nexus One with more benefits.
That leaves the Nexus One only available for T-Mobile.
Google will not provide any more fixes for 3G glitches-fixes. The Nexus One has been profitable for Google.
The Nexus One received a high-powered update with new features including multi-touch in the browser and
maps. It now has voice to text filling in fields as well as
turn-by-turn
navigation.
The Google Nexus One received excellent reviews, and then "issues" appeared with long waits for email support and touchiness with the touchscreen, which have been fixed. However HTC does offer live-US-staffed 888 number tech support. It was recently reported that voice transcriptions on the the Nexus One removes swear words. Web banner ads contend that the Nexus One wallpaper has sentience.
Meanwhile, you can still find the March announcement between Sprint and Google."Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network. This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google," said Fared Adib, Sprint vice president of product development. "Sprint customers already have the option of two amazing Android devices with Samsung Moment(TM) and HTC Hero(TM). It is a natural fit for us to add Nexus One to the list of choices available for Sprint customers who want the best value in wireless with the best in Android."
