Android an' Droid 2.2 FroYo Updates Soon: Droid by Motorola, myTouch 3G Android 2.2 Update

froyo-android.pngCurrent Android an' Droid owners are chopping at the bit waiting for official updates to Android 2.2, FroYo.

There are indications that owners of the myTouch 3G, myTouch Slide and Droid by Motorola will be getting an update to Android 2.2 FroYo "soon."

A Motorola rep told Slash Gear, ""While I can't comment on specifics, we do expect Droid by Motorola
users will receive Android 2.2 as a software upgrade in the near
future."
TmoNews shows a leaked promotional  piece from T-Mobile showing several
T-Mobile myTouch models an noting that

FroYo  Android 2.2 is
faster than previous versions of Android
(faster than iPad too) and has close to twenty
improvements
that include
supporting Adobe Flash 10.1, MS Exchange

support, and a uniifed inbox.  FroYo  Android 2.2 offers multiple e-mail account
support, camera improvements, a better
browser, and a re-designed calendar.
A major improvement is the
ability to store apps on the microSD card, allowing for more space for
apps as well as USB tethering to use the Android smartphone as a modem.
There is planned streaming
music service too.

  1. The reason the "Droid" won't get the 2.2 Froyo is because Verizon Wireless won't allow wifi tethering or allow the phone to be used a modem. It is because they market the phone with $30 unlimited internet package. They (Verizon) don't want the laptops tethered because they use too much bandwitdh. Instead they (Verizon) will charge you $59.99 for that if you want tether it with the phone. Face it, they got you coming and going.

  2. I have been using the droid for more than 3 months, And i am really very happy to be informed about the available updates. I am surely going to update my droid to 2.2.
