Verizon Wireless will announced the next generation Motorola Droid on June 23. We know this because journalists are getting invitations. Because Adobe officials be at the event it is presumed that the new Droid will run Adobe Flash. In order to run the new mobile version of Flash the Android new Droid would need to run Android 2.2 (FroYo.)
The Droid reveal is a day before the release of the now pre-sale sold-out iPhone 4, suggesting that they will position as an iPhone alternative which bloggers always call iPhone-killer. Executives presenting athe the event include Sanjay Jha (Motorola), Andy Rubin (Google), John Stratton (Verizon) and Shantanu Narayen (Adobe.)
Some think the next gen Droid will be Droid X with
a large 4.4-inch screen (854 x 480 resolution) and an 8
megapixel camera with flash and the ability to record 720p high
definition video. Droid X features
a 1GHz Snapdragon processor with8 GB of internal storage and is
expected
be bundled with an 8 GB microSD memory card.
Wireless has had considerable success with the Droid line of
smartphones the well-reviewed
HTC Droid Incredible continually sells out and does not ship for
a few weeks.
The original Droid by Motorola
out- sold the iPhone 1G over the first 74 days, coming in at just over
one million sold.
