During a conference call yesterday, RIM's Jim Balsille was feeling good, mainly due to the forthcoming BlackBerry OS 6.0 a "quantum leap" for the smartphone market.
Rim will introduce two new products either late in the current quarter or early in Q3, that will drive growth and boost BlackBerry's in the North American marketplace. "I just wish I could wind the clock forward a few weeks," Balsillie said. "I couldn't feel better."
Improved BlackBerry unit sales reached 11.2 million but profit margins were lower. The stock market was not as upbeat today. Shares of RIM down more than 9 percent in midday trade.
"Based on our store visit findings and product road maps, we expect
further share gains from Android-based devices, as well as the iPhone,"
said Baird analyst William Power, who lowered his rating on RIM to
'Neutral' from 'Outperform.'
Balsillie
told investors to expect "hero campaigns," "beautiful
innovation," and "turbochargers."
RIM is now in highly
competitive market with Android phones such as the Droid Incredible and
forthcoming Droid X gaining in popularity. The latest BlackBery on Verizon
