Not everyone wants an iPhone 4G, the well-reviewed
HTC EVO 4G with a larger screen is selling-out across the country. Yesterday, an official news release from Srpint announced that Sprint stores would be getting daily shipments of the HTC EVO 4G.
We called our local Sprint store, a rep told us "There's a national shortage, going on. We're taking names for a waiting list." He was expecting a UPS delivery later today.
We checked at a local Radio Shack, they are taking pre-orders, "No one has any EVO 4G right now." They are expecting 15 units on Friday and all are pre-sold except for one or two.
The Sprint website, says "Sorry, this device is so hot we can't
keep it on our virtual shelves.
Check back later - more are on their way!"
According to an email from Sprint spokeswoman, Caroline Semerdjian "As customer demand continues for HTC EVO 4G, we have experienced temporary shortages and/or outages of the device at some of our distribution points. Sprint and HTC are diligently working around the clock to increase inventory in all sales channels, including national retail partners RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, and indirect dealers. Additional shipments are arriving to our distribution channels on a regular basis. We appreciate the positive response from customers and promise to fulfill orders as best as possible in a timely manner."
We sort of knew this was coming because on Sunday we published an article the Top Ten Best Things 2Do While Waiting for Your HTC EVO 4G or Droid Incredible with tips on how to get your data, email and friend ready for the transition.
So what can you do? First off, call your local stores, they know more of what's going on. Ask when they expect a delivery and at what time. You can often be put on a waiting list or in the Radio Shack case, you give a deposit which is a gift card than can be used towards the purchase of the HTC EVO 4G.
When the HTC Touch Pro2 continually sold-out at Verizon, users checked back frequently online and the minute they showed to be in stock ordered it. HTC makes great smartphones so popular that they run out of raw materials, which is why HTC Droid Incredible buyers are waiting for their orders to arrive.

FYI Innovative Telecom/can get EVO's & the new Samsung Epic via direct ship, in fact it's the only way you can get the Epic right now. Orders placed before 2:30 PST in most all cases arrive next day. However, one order a few weeks ago did take 3 days. . . but better than weeks on a wait list.
