JPL Intern Eyes Droid 2, Faster Droid 2 Processor and Better Keyboard

Droid 2 JPL.JPGAn intern at JPL had a chance to see the stronger baby brother of the Droid, Droid 2 at a tech show, at a Verizon booth

Droid 2 feels smoother than the original Droid and has a 1 GHz processor.  It has the same size with the same buttons, headphone jack, volume buttons, power/sleep button, and the Micro-USB port and camera button The camera on the back was a 5.0 megapixel, and faster than the original Droid camera.

The  Droid 2 was in a dark chrome-like color. The keyboard is wide and the directional pad was changed so that you have the four arrows. It's easier to type on than the original Droid.

The Droid 2 was running the same skin on top of Android 2.1. When the intern (Zack) asked about the software, the Verizon representatives told him that it would probably have FroYo (Android 2.2) plain (without any skin). She said that if it does come out with Android 2.1, it will gt updated very quickly.

The  Droid 2 had 8GB of internal memory as well as an 8GB
micro-SD card. The model number says A955 and on the bottom of the
device it said "G4DR 4722."

It has been rumored that the  Droid
2
will be coming out late in the summer or later.  The next Droid
smarpthone, however from Verizon will be the
Droid X,
that will be announced next week on June 23.  A teaser website shows Droid X with
a large 4.3-inch screen, 720p high
definition video capture and HDMI output.
