screen-shot-2010-07-23-at-2.04.02-pm.jpgJust in case you haven't heard, there have been issues with the iPhone 4 and attenuation on the iTenna.  Hands that touch the lower left hand corner, can decrease signals. This condition was called the "death grip" and the whole mess is called "Atennagate.'

Last week, Steve Jobs, announced that Apple will offer free cases to iPhone 4 owners.  There is now a website showing how to get the free cases, and the only way iPhone 4 users can get a case is via an iPhone app.

Those who purchase an iPhone 4 before September 30, 2010, are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or a select third-party case from Apple at no charge. iPhone 4 owners must download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. Then
launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.. Users then select a Bumper or case

Choices of third party cases include:

  • Belkin Shield Micra - Clear or Black Pearl.
  • Speck Fitted, Black & White Tartan.
  • Griffin Reveal Etch- Black.
    Griffin Motif - Black.
  • Reveal PixelSkin HDj - Black back.
  • incase Snap for iPhone- Blue, White, Pink and Black.

Wireless and Mobile News' "Review of Reviews" of the
iPhone 4 (AT&T)
showed many good features, but also concerns
for the limited data plans as well as signal attenuation.

The
iPhone 4 had problems with
slow uploads.
Apple reported that they were stunned with the
south-paw attenuation/death grip and there was problem with signal bars
that would be fixed with a
software update

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, users must
apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, users must apply within
30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.
