The Sprint blog confirmed that HTC EVO 4G users will be getting the highly-coveted update to Android 2.2 FroYo with "significant" improvements.  Most of the features we reported correctly but there are more.

The upgrade to FroYo adds voice dialing over Bluetooth, 4-Way Camera rotation, faster browser support and Flash support. Other features we mentione, previously, are the LED flash can be used for video, app installation on microSD, new preloaded widgets, and improved 720 p video-recording. (See full list of update features.)

The date of roll-out is one day later than expected. The Over-the-Air update will start being rolled out on Tuesday, August 3, when users will  receive a notification that Android 2.2 is available for download.

Once users download the 2.2 update, there will be a prompt to install the update. The EVO 4G will  be disabled during the installation process. The EVO will be ready to use once the process completes.

The Android 2.2 software can also updated through their HTC EVO 4G under the Settings Menu HTC Software Update. This will initiate the three-step process also.

WARNING from Sprint. The Android 2.2 update will not wipe your personal data (contacts,
apps, settings, photos, etc.).  However it is always prudent to back
up your device before any major software update.  There are many backup
utilities available in Android Market.

The well-reviewed HTC EVO 4G continues to sell-out. It is loaded with HTC Sense with many handy tricks, widgets, scenes, and social networking features.
