HTC EVO 4G Users Use 3.5x More Data, Exceeded Expectations, Says Hesse

Thumbnail image for EVO4Gwith Kick Stand.JPGSales of the HTC EVO 4G at Sprint exceeded Sprint's expectations, noted Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, who also noted that it had a very low return rate.

Hesse reported that HTC EVO 4G users used ""three and a half times more data than our other smartphone customers." He also said that Sprint would had sold more EVO 4G if there wasn't a shortage of them.

The shortage was reported due to a limited supply of AMOLED screens. HTC recently announced that it will be using SLCD screens for 3.7 inch screen used in the HTC Desire and Nexus One smartphone which use less battery juice.

The HTC EVO 4G on Sprint's network will start getting an update to Android 2.2 next and the update will take even more data.

Update 7/30:  The Sprint Blog post confirms the update and it has even more neat FroYo Android 2.2, features. The update will roll-out over time and should reach everyone by mid August.

The well-reviewed HTC EVO 4G continues to sell-out. It is loaded with HTC Sense with many handy tricks, widgets, scenes, and social networking features.
