Kin One and Kin Two No Mo' Folded in Windows Phone 7

KINONE with HAMELT.JPGDays after slashing the prices of the Kin One and Kin Two, it has been revealed that the two not fully-smartphones with tons of social networking are almost DOA.

One of the major barriers of both Kins was that they required a full data plan, running up the cost of the phones.

"We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship Kin in Europe this fall as planned," Microsoft said"Additionally, we are integrating our Kin team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from Kin into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current Kin phones.

Business Insider reported a that Microsoft has sold only 500 Kin phones which is very low considering the ad efforts and deployment.

Geared for socially-networked young people, KIN blends the phone, online services and the PC. Both KIN phones feature a touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard in different form factors. Both Kins have a microsoft Zune player built-in along with KIN Loop, KIN Spot, KIN Studio and KIN Camera with photo-editing and sharing features. KINs have a full web browser and the operating system is based on the new Windows Phone OS with a FM radio and email access to Web-based mail, POP/IMAP services, as well as Exchange for business e-mail and contact sync.

Hamlet might have had something to say about the new Kin One and Kin Two phones from Microsoft and Verizon Wireless. The Ham-himself said, "A little more than kin, and less than kind". - (Act I, Scene II)." Maybe he would Twitter to Opheilia "Get U 2 a Nun-R-E!"
