Droid X Update to Android 2.2 FroYo - 2 CU in September

Droid X users are patiently awaiting their upgrade to Android 2.2, and a Motorola support forum member has revealed an expected roll-out time frame.  Matt in his post wrote :

"Some Droid X users are experiencing an issue using Exchange 2003
email. Though the email is arriving on the Droid X, no notifications are
appearing. A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September."

Update 09/21/10 - Verizon will launch an Over-the-Update to Android 2.2 Froyo tomorrow 09/22/10.

The original classic Droid by Motorola is now getting an update to Android 2.2 without tethering as a modem or Wi-Fi hotspots.  The Droid X already has mobile 3G hotspots. 

FroYo  Android 2.2 is
faster than previous versions of Android
(faster than iPad too) and has close to twenty
improvements
that include
supporting Adobe Flash 10.1, MS offers multiple e-mail account
support, camera improvements, a better
browser, a re-designed calendar, Bluetooth voice dialing and ability to listen to music and view visual voicemail at the same time.  A major improvement is the
ability to store apps on the microSD card, allowing for more space for
apps.
There is a planned streaming
music service too.
