Consumer Cellular wants to know about extraordinary grandmas and grandpas. They are requesting people from across the country to submit their nominations for its first annual
"Grandparent of the Year" contest.
The contest runs now until September 3. The grand prize winner will
receive a six night Caribbean cruise for four on a Royal Caribbean
International cruise ship. Second and third place travel prizes will
also be awarded.

"Our first annual Grandparent of the Year contest is designed to raise
awareness of Grandparents Day, an annual holiday that falls on the first
Sunday after Labor Day, and celebrate the people who make it possible,"
said John Marick, CEO of Consumer Cellular. "Through this contest we're
inviting the public to use their creativity to share what makes their
grandparent or grandparenting extraordinary."
Applicants have to reate a 3-minute (or less) video OR a 500 word (or less) essay
answering one of the following questions:
- What makes my grandparent extraordinary?
- What makes my parent an extraordinary grandparent?
- What makes grandparenting extraordinary?

All entries
will be posted online and the general public is invited to vote for
their favorite submission until 11:59 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 7.
The top five finalists, as voted on by the public, will be announced on
Friday, September 10, right before the Grandparents Day weekend. Grand,
second and third prize winners will be announced by Consumer Cellular
during the annual AARP Orlando@50+ convention in Orlando, Florida
