T-Mobile has made public that they will release an Android G2 with Google that will be the first smartphone for their upcoming HSPA+ 4G network. They teased the public by saying more information will be coming in the future. They also Twittered a link to their web teaser page with a sign-up for email notifications.
For those math majors out there if you mix a G2 with 4G don’t you get a 6G? T-Mobile was the first carrier to carry an Android smartphone the G1 therefore we didn’t give a* gee-whiz.*..
With all the new Android land devices we suspect specs to be at least a 1 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, 3.7 inch or greater touchscreen, Bluetooth and Android 2.2 with a huge promotional event in San Francisco when they launch.
Last year, T-Mobile to celebrate the arrival of the myTouch 3G produced an aerial spectacle in the sky over San Francisco with skydivers landing in locations in San Francisco.
Here’s the text of the teaser webpage:
T-Mobile is proud to have launched the world’s first Android-powered
phone, the T-Mobile G1, which captured the imagination of developers
and consumers alike nearly two years ago. Now, we are readying its
successor - the T-Mobile G2 with Google. Delivering tight integration
with Google services, the G2 will break new ground as the first
smartphone specifically designed for our advanced HSPA+ network, which
delivers today’s available 4G speeds. In the coming weeks we’ll share
more details about the G2, including information on how current T-Mobile
customers can get exclusive first access.
The fine print:
Based on 4G networks speeds currently available to U.S. mobile device users, the
device has a theoretical peak capability of 14.4 Mbps. HSPA+ not available everywhere.
