Android an' Droid App Update: Vlingo Speaks Fourquare with Check-In, Where and Shout

socialvlingo.png

Vlingo has updated their Android app so  that it allows users to interact with foursquare by
speaking to their phone.  Vlingo users can
now speak to their phone to check in, connect with their friends, or
shout out an update on foursquare. Previously Vlingo was a paid app that the company made free after Google announced Voice Actions for Android that only works with Android Froyo 2.2., while Vlingo works with Android 2.0 and above.

Here are the Vlingo phrases to use voice commands in foursquare:

Check in to locations - say "Check in Hong Kong Express" or
"Check into Logan Airport"

Locate friends -  ask, "Where are my friends?" or
"Who's nearby?"

Send shout outs
- say "Shout headed to Fenway for the Sox game" or
"foursquare shout at Starbucks grabbing a latte."

A video follows.

This
latest release of Vlingo also lets users  share Vlingo with
their friends easily with the new "Share Vlingo" button. They can also
update Facebook, Twitter and/or foursquare at the same time by just
saying "social update" and speaking the update.

Vlingo for Android can power most tasks on Android devices.  Users can simply press the "Vlingo widget" to:

  • send text and email messages.
  • search the web using Google or Yahoo!
  • update Facebook and Twitter status
  • open built-in and  3rd party apps.
  • speak into any application with the Vlingo Everywhere voice keyboard.
  • SafeReader - hear incoming text & email messages while you drive.
  • SuperDialer - one-click calling to an infinite address book, and reviews, maps and directions for any business.

Vlingo is available for Android 2.x and above. U.S. users can download Vlingo on device from the Android Market for free.
