Verizon Wireless said today that three fitness and outdoor apps from
Trimble that help customers track fitness workouts and
explore the outdoors are now available in V CAST Apps.
The following apps use the built-in GPS on
customers' smartphones to provide detailed stats and location
information for a variety of outdoor and fitness enthusiasts:
- AllSport GPS helps customers reach their fitness
goals faster. The app lets them track workouts such as runs, walks and
bike rides on high-quality maps. Offering language support in English,
French, German, Italian and Spanish, the app records more than 20
heart-pounding fitness stats, including distance, time, speed and
calories burned. - Geocache Navigator gives customers access to more
than a million geocaches hidden around the world. While using this app,
their smartphones navigate them to treasures, clues, and then help them
share their finds with others. - Trimble Outdoors enables customers to download
top-notch trail maps and navigate trails for their next hike, off-road,
or outdoor adventure. While on the trail, the app lets them collect
points of interest, photos and audio clips to share with friends and
family. Trimble Outdoors also supports five languages (English, French,
German, Italian and Spanish).
"We are excited to offer our complete line of outdoor lifestyle apps
to Verizon Wireless consumers," said Rich Rudow, general manager for
Trimble Outdoors, a consumer mobile app division of Trimble. "Each app
provides best-in-class features for a variety of users from fitness
fanatics to hikers and backpackers to treasure-hunting geocachers."
Customers with select BlackBerry smartphones can download these apps
from V CAST Apps for a one-time fee of $9.99 per app. V CAST Apps,
available on select BlackBerry smartphones, gives customers an
ever-expanding selection of games, productivity tools, entertainment and
news apps.
V CAST Apps enables customers to pay for their apps with one
click, and the charge will appear on their monthly wireless bills.
Trimble Outdoors and AllSport GPS are also available to customers with
Android smartphones from Android Market for $9.99 each.
